Can you introduce yourself and tell us what kind of craft you specialize in?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My name is MaryJane, and I\u2019m a Nursing student at the University of Ibadan. I make the prettiest, most aesthetic beaded jewelry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you start your journey as an artisan?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December last year, I came across this fairy bracelet on YouTube, and I thought it was so cute. This year, I decided to try my hand at jewelry making so I bought some materials and made my first-ever beaded chain necklace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What inspired you to go into this line of work?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve always been interested in handwork and crafts since I was little. My aunt used to make beaded bags and traditional jewelry, and watching her definitely sparked my interest in the world of beads and jewelry making. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How long have you been practicing your craft?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technically, it\u2019s something I started exploring back in 2018, but I only discovered my niche which is beaded chain jewelry this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you walk us through your creative process e.g from idea to finished product?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I usually start with a rough idea of what I want the piece to look like. Then I select the beads and arrange them to match the concept. I keep rearranging, swapping colors and bead types until it feels just right. Once that\u2019s settled, I start chaining the separate pieces, link them together, and voil\u00e0! a piece is done! \ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s actually interesting. What materials or techniques make your work unique?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike most jewelry makers who use a three-in-one plier and eyepins, I work with straight wire and make each individual loop myself, ensuring every joint is stable and secure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What challenges do you face while creating your crafts?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My biggest challenge right now is sourcing materials. It can be really hard to find unique beads and charms that perfectly match the designs I have in mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you think handcrafting still holds value in today\u2019s digital world? Why or why not?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Definitely. Handcrafting reminds us that true beauty often lies in patience and imperfection. It\u2019s a gentle way of preserving connection between the maker, the piece, and the person who wears it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you hear about \u00c0ren\u00e0 Ng?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I actually found out about \u00c0ren\u00e0 on social media. Twitter, to be exact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How has \u00c0ren\u00e0 helped you reach more customers or grow your brand?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has served as a great platform to showcase my products. It has also taken away the stress of logistics, which, honestly, is every vendor\u2019s nightmare <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What difference has the platform made in your craft business?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0ren\u00e0 has given my brand more visibility and a stronger sense of community. It\u2019s been such a supportive space for artisans to connect, learn, and share their work with people who genuinely value craftsmanship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What would you like to see \u00c0ren\u00e0 do more for artisans like you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019d love to see \u00c0ren\u00e0 create more spaces that truly shine a light on artisans; pop-up events, online features, and showcases that help us share our stories, not just our work. There\u2019s something so special about connecting with people who see the heart behind handmade pieces, and more of that would mean so much. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What advice would you give to young or aspiring artisans?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honestly, there\u2019s no sure way to go about anything. The fear of not getting it right is something we all struggle with. Just start, you can always perfect it later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you could describe your craft in one word, what would it be and why? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personal. Clich\u00e9, I know \u2014 but I put so much effort into making each piece special for every customer. From consultations to the little notes I include with each order, everything is tailored to the person\u2019s taste and preferences. \u201cPersonal\u201d truly captures what I do. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
